An Auglaize County grand jury Thursday indicted Ricky J. Ritchie, 51, on three counts of rape, all first-degree felonies, three counts of gross sexual imposition, all fourth-degree felonies, three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, all third-degree felonies, and one count each of attempted rape, a second-degree felony, and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony.  Ritchie appeared the same day in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court and was ordered held on $1 million bond with a 10 percent cash provision. During the hearing, Ritchie also pleaded innocent to the charges. Court records indicate Ritchie retained Gerald Siesel to serve as his defense counsel.
According to a news release issued today, law enforcement from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the matter Aug. 14. The probe also included caseworkers from Auglaize County Children Services.
The charges against Ritchie allege he engaged in sexual activity with a female under the age of 16.
A first-degree felony is punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison. If convicted, Ritchie also would face a sexual offender status hearing.
