By MIKE BURKHOLDER Managing Editor NEW BREMEN — A New Bremen man was taken via Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital for injuries he suffered during a collision Friday morning.
According to a report from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Steven A. Patterson, 52, of New Bremen, was driving a 2000 Chevy Astro Van east on Ohio 274 when it was struck by a 2007 Chevy Uplander driven by John R. Linder, 56, of New Knoxville. Linder, who was driving south on East Shelby Road, was stopped at a stop sign and reportedly proceeded into the intersection and struck the van in the front, left side. The collision forced Patterson’s vehicle off the right side of the road, where it rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a yard. Patterson was ejected from the vehicle. Law enforcement on the scene told The Evening Leader witnesses reported Patterson was not breathing shortly after the collision and they performed CPR on him until medical personnel arrived. Medical personnel transported Patterson to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital and then to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. As of press time, Patterson was listed as being in the emergency room but no condition was available. Linder reportedly was taken to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. The crash remains under investigation. — Staff Writer Katie Yantis contributed to this story. |
