Revival Set For St. Marys Print E-mail

ST. MARYS — A 20/20 vision is what one St. Marys native hopes to give local residents and the surrounding area during an event scheduled for July. St. Marys native and North Carolina Masters Commission student David Boninsegna saw a vision for a revival in St. Marys, gathered support and is ready to share the word of God with local people.
“I had a vision back in January that God was going to bring down his glory  and his love on this area,” Boninsegna said. “It is going to be a movement of God showing his power and love on the people of St. Marys and surrounding areas.”
The event is called the 20/20 Revival and will be held in the St. Marys Theater July 9-11.
“I wasn’t sure what to call it and God gave me 20/20, we are not only bringing the word of God but he wants to give us a 20/20 vision of his Kingdom and who he really is,” Boninsegna said. “We expect the power of God to fall on this place.”
He also said he prays the event becomes larger than the St. Marys Theater can hold at one time.
“My prayer is that this is such a big thing and so many people come that we have to have two services,” Boninsegna said. “We are ready for that.”
Evangelist Timothy McCain from North Carolina will be sharing the word along with Boninsegna. Celina resident Sarah Pierstorff will be leading worship, the worship band will be Praise Force and the Christ Representatives. A Christian rap band also is slated to perform.
“We want to show people that God is still in the business of showing how powerful he is,” Boninsegna said. “We are definitely ready to see a movement of God.”
Boninsegna and McCain share a similar thought on the event and a prayer for the event.
“We are not preaching religion, we are preaching a relationship,” Boninsegna said. “It’s not going to be a normal church service but a transformation.”
McCain, who Boninsegna described as “an amazing man of God,” called out to the people of St. Marys and the area surrounding to be a part of the event.
“They have everything to gain and nothing to lose,” McCain said. “A lot of people think they have to clean themselves up before coming to Christ, but they come to Christ and he will clean them up. St. Marys is going to have a massive experience coming July 9.”
Those helping Boninsegna with the event have invited residents and churches within a 35 mile radius of St. Marys to the event.
“It’s time for a revival in St. Marys, not just an emotional drive but him acting,” Boninsegna said.
He joined McCain emphasizing the love of God and the love for those in the area.
“We want to show them that God is not a God sitting above us dictating our lives but he is a God who loves us and is waiting for us to love him,” Boninsegna said. “God takes a normal life and makes it extraordinary.”
The doors to the event will open at 6 p.m., and the event will start at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Marys Theater, 119 W. Spring St., St. Marys, each night of the event, and the event will also be broadcast on zsportslive.com.
Boninsegna and McCain also pointed to God for the praise for the event, saying they are just the bodies carrying out the call placed upon them.
“All glory be to God,” Boninsegna said. “No man should take honor for what God is going to do, it’s humbling to be able to be used in a way that God is going to pour out his love and mercy.”
