Janie Henderson, 87, 311 N. Wayne St., St. Marys, died at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the St. Marys Living Center.
She was born March 19, 1922, in St. Marys, a daughter of Orville and Leitha (Heil) Rider. On Aug. 19, 1939, she married Carl Henderson, he preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2006. She is survived by a son, George (Jean) Henderson of St. Marys, a grandchild, Chris (Jennifer) Henderson of Toledo; a great-granddaughter, Mallorie Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Linda Henderson; two grandchildren, Amy and Scott Henderson. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was the retired owner of Henderson’s Antiques in St. Marys. She was well known in the area s the host of her own radio program, “Janie’s Corner,” which aired on WCSM radio for more than 25 years. She enjoyed painting, sewing, playing the piano, knitting, crocheting and reading. She was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church. Funeral rites will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the Auglaize County Humane Society or the March of Dimes.
