James E. Schroer, 66, 103 Rummel Creek Drive, New Bremen, died at 4:20 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Otterbein of St. Marys.  He was born on Feb. 17, 1943, a son of Emil and Esther (Kuest) Schroer, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son Daniel (Kim) Schroer; grandchildren, Kari Schroer, Colton Schroer, and Logan Schroer of Germantown, Ken (Meredith) Weibel; great-granddaughter, Marin Weibel of Clayton; an Aunt Alma Kuest of St. Marys; a daughter Diana King and grandchild Eric King of Wapakoneta.
 For more than 20 years, he was President of the St. Marys Trucking Company in St. Marys.  He was also the Bass Guitar Player for the Bumblebees band for 30 years. Before his work at the St. Marys Trucking Company, he was a sales associate for Baker Auto in St. Marys and Clark Ford in Wapakoneta.  He was also the assistant manager for First National Bank in St. Marys. He was a 1962 graduate of New Bremen High School. He earned the State FFA Degree while in High School and then went on to earn the Honorary American FFA Degree from the National FFA Organization, the Honorary State FFA Degree from the Ohio FFA Association, and Honorary Chapter FFA Degree from the New Bremen FFA Chapter.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, playing music, antiquing and entertaining throughout his lifetime.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, with the Rev. Karel Hanhart officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Lake Hospice in St. Marys and the New Bremen FFA Chapter.
