Robert Lee (Rolo) Engel, 86, died at 11:55 a.m., March 28, 2009, at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Fla., from complications of pulmonary embolisms and pneumonia.
Robert Lee (Rolo) Engel, 86, died at 11:55 a.m., March 28, 2009, at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Fla., from complications of pulmonary embolisms and pneumonia. He was born on June 9, 1922, a son of Frank and Elsie (Fickle) Engel in St. Marys, where he resided until 1985. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 37 years then moved to Fort Myers, Fla., where he resided until his death. He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Jeri), Fort Myers; a son, Richard (Kathy) Engel of Northfield, N.H.; daughters, Margaret (Peggie) Ann Engel of Fort Myers, Fla, Leslie (Steve) Hullinger, St. Marys; grandchildren, Kaylee (Robert) Bell, Rod (Heather) Engel, Anna (Brian) Engel, Lora (Michael) Ingledue; five great-grandchildren, Bill Bell, Dylan, Gavin, Carson and Bronson Engel. He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; a daughter. He joined the Army in 1940. He was a professional ventriloquist, magician and clown and belonged to The Society of Magicians and Clowns. He was a VFW clown and freelanced many different venues. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of The United Church of Christ in St. Marys and The Fort Myers Congregational UCC in Florida.
