Bunny Trail Makes Its Return Print E-mail

ST. MARYS — Children across St. Marys this week will once again have the opportunity to travel down the bunny trail, while getting goodies along the way. The third annual St. Marys Bunny Trail is scheduled to take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The event, sponsored by the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce, offers children a chance to scoop up goodies at various locations around the city.
“What they do is get a ticket that has the business names on it and they can go to each and get a treat,” Chamber of Commerce Director Kelly Kill said. “There is free storytelling at Canalside Book Shop, free photos with the Easter Bunny at Kroger and a free bunny movie at the performing arts center in Memorial High School.”
The trail begins at Chief Supermarket — where tickets can be purchased for a dollar donation — and winds through the city. A bunny brunch will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at East Elementary and an Easter egg hunt will be held at Zion Lutheran Church starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.
“Children must be accompanied by an adult,” Kill said of the trail. “We also will have the big basket giveaway at 2 p.m., with four bikes and other assorted toys that we will have a drawing for.”
Kill said the event is one targeting at providing entertainment for the entire family. As the children play, adults could do some shopping in support of local businesses, Kill said.
“SummerFest provides fun for all ages, but primarily for older children and adults,” Kill said. “This is something for the young children and gives them something so they can get involved. It also gives the businesses an opportunity to give to the children.”
The trail includes more than 30 businesses. For more information, contact the chamber of commerce at 419-300-4611.
