By MARY BARGDILL Staff Writer ST. MARYS — Along with the warmer days of early spring, many area residents are feeling the urge to toss out the clutter that has accumulated in their homes during the past year. The Evening Leader recently asked if they have begun spring cleaning.
At Bud’s Chevrolet-Buick on Commerce Drive, two employees said they have begun a few projects. “We started outside a little bit,” employee Karen Dicke said. “We’re getting ready to (spring clean).” Betty Durnell has just gotten started to spruce up her home for spring. “I cleaned my garage floor, that’s the only thing,” Durnell said. The Shoe Department employee Connie Bickar said she was looking forward to the spring cleaning. “Yes I have — it’s time,” Bickar said. “They’re having a spring cleanup over there (in Celina). I like to keep my stuff and my husband says, ‘No you have to get rid of it.’” St. Marys resident Carol Payton said she has already started spring cleaning in her home as well. “The hardest part is getting started,” she said. “(And) windows are the hardest so they don’t get the streaks.” At Advance Auto Parts in St. Marys, employees are holding off on their home spring cleaning. “No, I haven’t,” Cheldon Fetters said. “We haven’t acquired that much stuff yet.” Co-worker Holli Broyles is also waiting a little longer to remove any clutter in her home. “No, I haven’t done any spring cleaning,” she said, adding she was waiting for the St. Marys City spring cleanup. “That’s when I normally do my spring cleaning.” The city of St. Marys will hold a Spring Cleanup on May 9 and 16.
