Imelda R. Wilker, 85, 125 N. West St., St. Marys, died at 3:42 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, following complications of surgery. She was born Oct. 12, 1923, in St. Peter, a daughter of Anthony and Rose (Miller) Siegrist and they preceded her in death.
On July 9, 1949, she married LeRoy L. Wilker, and he preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1995.
She is survived by two daughters, Agnes (Paul) Weadock of Glynwood, Mary Mihm of St. Marys; a son, Robert L. Wilker of St. Marys; five grandchildren, Donald Weadock, Denny (Lena) Mihm, Matthew (Karen) Mihm, of Anna, Marie (Michael) Peterson, Robert J. Wilker; five great-grandchildren, Katie and Jonathon Peterson; Austin, Cody and Courtney Mihm; a brother, Edwin (Mary) Siegrist of Fort Recovery; three sisters-in-law, Delores Siegrist of Fort Recovery and Rose Siegrist of Fort Wright, Ky., and Jane Wilker of Montezuma.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Wilker; four brothers, Otto Siegrist, Odilo “Shorty” Siegrist, Urban Siegrist, Ivo Siegrist; three sisters, Leona Schmidt, Barbara Kneutzjanz, Celine Homan.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its ladies sodality, VFW Post 9289 auxiliary and American Legion Post 323 auxiliary, all in St. Marys.
She and her husband had enjoyed fishing together at both Grand Lake St. Marys and Lake Erie. A devout Catholic, she spent countless hours making rosaries that were donated to various missions, prison ministries and members of the military. She also served many years on the funeral luncheon committee at her church. Above all, she was a loving wife mother and grandmother, and a very loyal friend to all those who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5111 E. Spring St. in St. Marys, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher officiating.
Burial will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery, in St. Marys.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Miller Funeral Home, Ohio 703 West Chapel, in St. Marys.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Holy Rosary Catholic School.
