The Evening Leader, a six-day-a-week newspaper, is located in the heart of downtown St. Marys, in the same location where a newspaper has been published for more than 100 years. Found at 102 E. Spring Street, the Evening Leader building has been home to more than just the newspaper staff. In the early years, the second floor of the large brick building was home to dentist offices, an insurance company and a city savings and loan office. The U.S. Post Office was located in the east side of the building until 1925 when it moved across the street. Owned and operated today by Horizon Publications, the Evening Leader boasts a long history of dedicated staff including former editors John L. Sullivan, Thomas E. Wilson, A.C. Buss, K.C. Geiger, Mike Core and Hal Miller. Today's staff provides coverage for St. Marys and the 'Golden Triangle' area of Auglaize County including Minster, New Bremen and New Knoxville. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 to 10 a.m. The main office number is 419-394-7417; the fax number is 419-394-7202. The newspaper is published every Monday through Saturday with the exception of New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
