By KATIE YANTIS Staff Writer ST. MARYS — Minster Bank will be celebrating with customers and local businesses this week. The financial center has been in St. Marys since Nov. 14, 1988. The bank was established in 1914 and has branches in Troy, Sidney, Wapakoneta, New Bremen, Minster IGA and has a corporate office in Minster.
The facility has evolved into a full-service local bank that offers trust and investment services. The anniversary of the bank will be celebrated throughout the week with the customers. During the week, customers will be able to register for a chance to win a variety of items. The items include a flat screen TV, DVD player, digital camera and a CD boombox. Minster Bank will have cookies and punch for customers Friday — the actual date of the anniversary of the opening date. The giveaway for the prizes also will be held at 4 p.m. Friday. “It is nice to give back to our customers,” branch manager Larry Badgett said. “We treat our customers the way we want to be treated.” Minster Bank also will be celebrating with a Business After Hours event scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. The event will be held in conjunction with the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce. During Thursday’s event, hor d’oeuvres will be served. Throughout the evening, every 20 minutes a $20 Chamber gift certificate will be given away as well as a mystery bag of money at the end of the night. It was 20 years ago when bank officials decided to open a branch in St. Marys, taking two new hires with it. Assistant Manager Kathy Sampson and Manager Larry Badgett were hired a year before the opening and both of them are still at Minster Bank. “It is just joy to work here, not only with the customers but the people I work with as well,” Sampson said. “I appreciate everyone who walks through the door.” Reminiscing about the past 20 years, Sampson and Badgett agreed on the key to the success of the bank in St. Marys. “The best part of Minster Bank is that we are so community oriented,” Sampson said. “We are locally owned and supported.” Badgett said the customers have been loyal and Minster Bank has done well through the tough economy. “I would like to personally thank the community for their support over the years and through the ups and the downs,” Badgett said. “Minster Bank is having a good year despite all of the turmoil.” |
