Burglars hit local home Print E-mail

ST. MARYS — Police officers in the city of St. Marys are in the early stages of an aggravated burglary investigation involving armed suspects. St. Marys Police Chief Greg Foxhoven said a resident in the 500 block of North Front Street contacted the police department at 10:36 a.m. Tuesday and reported two men, a black male and a white male, entered her home while she was sleeping and demanded money. Foxhoven said the resident reported one of the men wielded a firearm during the incident.
“They entered through the front door,” Foxhoven said. “She was not hurt and they led her around the residence.”
Foxhoven said the suspects were last seen leaving the area traveling south on Front Street. Several witnesses reported seeing two individuals resembling the suspects in the area.
“They were able to give us a description,” Foxhoven said. “They held a very important piece of the puzzle.”
Foxhoven encouraged anyone with information to contact law enforcement officials. The police chief also stressed the importance of keeping an eye on neighbors and securing homes.
“Although St. Marys is a small town, these types of things always happen,” Foxhoven said.
“Always have your doors locked and it’s a good idea to keep them locked when you are home. You also should be aware of your surroundings and neighbors should look out for neighbors.”
