Fall Athletic Awards program held at ECCHS Print E-mail

ImageThe Elk County Catholic Athletic Association sponsored the 2006 Fall Athletic Awards Program last evening in the high school auditorium.
Athletic Director Aaron J. Straub opened the program by noting that 201 of the 317 students at ECCHS participated in the fall sports programs.
Father David Perry gave the invocation followed by the welcome given by ECCHS Athletic Club vice president Pat Herzing.
The program opened with the awarding of the three-year letter certificates to the following: David Cole, Tom Goetz, Logan Haberberger, Dan Hawkins, Emily Radkowski, Stephanie Sidelinger and Matt Snelick in soccer, Max Croteau, Matt Fritz, Chad Meholic and Tyler Prokop in cross country; Lauralee Geci and Sara Meier in tennis; Andy Herbstritt and Craig Kronenwetter in football; Emily Riddle and Josh Salter in golf, and Laura Straub in volleyball.
Receiving four-year letter winner plaques were: Andie Beveridge, Brad Coppella, Jonathan Newell, Jonathan Prencipe and Alli Straub in soccer; Jesse Bosnik and Kevin Smith in golf; Chelsea Bloam and Paul Fledderman in cross country; Dominique DeFrain and Meghan Geci in tennis.
Golf coach John Vollmer presented varsity letters to Jesse Bosnik, E.J. Crowe, Ryan Lanzel, Jake Leithner, Josh Salter, Kevin Smith, Emily Riddle, Don Meier, Jacob Meyer, Tom Schneider, Brian Smith and Andrew Wehler.  Most Valuable Player awards were presented to state qualifiers Emily Riddle and Kevin Smith.
Adam Bailey, boys soccer coach, awarded varsity letters to the following, Brad Coppella, Tom Goetz, Jonathan Newell, Jonathan Prencipe, David Cole, Logan Haberberger, Dan Hawkins, Matt Snelick, Chris Aiello, Justin Brem, Cody Herzing, Tyler Healy and Bob Steudler. The Coaches Award was presented to Tom Goetz with the MVP award going to Dan Hawkins.
Girls soccer coach Don Fabiano presented varsity letters to Andie Beveridge, Emily Radkowski, Stephanie Sidelinger, Alli Straub, Megan Weis, Marissa Housler, Elena Reed, Mandy Taylor, Katie Cavalline, Allie Dellaquila, Alyssa Hunter, Kirstie Pistner, Katherine Porter, Alyssa Reuscher, Abbey Salter, and Emily Detsch. The Coaches awards in girls soccer were presented to Sarah Bush and Megan Weis.
Marlene Stubber, cheerleader advisor, presented Adrienne Mahoney with the Coaches Award as the top cheerleader. She also presented varsity letters to the following girls, Tina Brehm, Danielle Cappiello, Kaitlin Fredette, Angela Laird, Adrienne Mahoney, Jamie Vanslander, Richelle Dippold, Paige Mahoney, and Savannah Pearsall.
Chelsea Lecker was named the Most Valuable Player for the Lady Crusader Volleyball squad and Abby Cavalline the top defensive player by Coach Diane Gies. Coach Gies presented varsity letters to Abby Cavalline, Ashley Denio, Chelsea Lecker, Casey Reed, Amber Schaefer, Alyssa Seelye, Laura Straub, Brittany Buchheit, Kayla Tucker, Kathleen Caruso and Kelsey Schwabenbauer.
The top three award winners for cross country, presented by Coach Wee J. Fernan, were Paul Fledderman, Greg Brennen and Chelsea Bloam. Varsity letters were presented to the following team members, Chelsea Bloam, Greg Brennen, Brian Fabiano, Paul Fledderman, Matt Fritz, Chad Meholic, Meghan Kronenwetter, Lauren Resch, Max Croteau, Tyler Prokop, Andrew Simbeck, Laura Gregory, Lindsay Hoffman, Jaclyn Horchen, Alex Brazinski, Luke Handwerger, Adrienne Polaski, Kady Weisner, Megan Werner, Chris Antonio and Brandon Johnson.
Gordon Daghir, girls tennis coach, presented his three major awards to Meghan Geci, Dominique DeFrain and Sara Meier. He also presented varsity letters Laken Lenox, Lauralee Geci, Dominique DeFrain, Meghan Geci, Sara Meier, Emily Crowe, Katie Goetz, Julie Meier, Lauren O’Hara, Laura Benini, Kaitlyn Geci, Amanda Krise, and Sandy Levenduski.
Blake Housler was presented the MVP defensive award for football, while Derek McCullough won the Coaches award. Head Football Coach Keith Lecker also presented varsity letters to Christian Cordero, Adam Gerber, Andy Herbstritt, Jimmy Higgins, Blake Housler, Ray Jablonski, Craig Kronenwetter, Derek McCullough, Brad Meholic, Mike Moore, Mike Prokop, Nick Brennen, Kyle Herzing, Tom Jovenitti, Eric Mastrogiacomo, Josh Catalano, Bobby Imbrogno and Alex Moore.
Tyler Prokop received the Lee Foster Memorial Award, while Craig Kronenwetter was named the winner of the Bill Gapinski Football Memorial Award.
Varsity jackets were awarded to the following athletes, Greg Brennen, Abby Cavalline, Danielle Cappiello, Ashley Denio, Jimmy Higgins, Blake Housler, Ray Jablonski, Adrienne Mahoney, Angela Laird, Ryan Lanzel, Chelsea Lecker, Jake Leithner, Mike Moore, Mike Prokop, Amber Schaefer, Alyssa Seelye, Jamie Vanslander, Nick Brennen, Emily Crowe, Kyle Herzing, Julie Meier, Mandy Taylor, Justin Brem, Laura Gregory, Luke Handwerger, Cody Herzing, Donnie Meier, Kirstie Pistner, Alyssa Reuscher and Brian Smith.
The junior high coaches, Dave Geci, girls basketball, Theresa Steudler, soccer, Marlene Stubber, cheerleading, Fran Levenduski, cross country, and Travis Skrzypek, football, each introduced their players and spoke briefly about their respective seasons.
Following the awards program a social was held in the school cafeteria.
