Verona C. Reineke, 80

Verona C. Reineke,  80, of New Bremen died at 7:44 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at her residence after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born on April 14, 1934, in New Bremen to the late Alfred and Helen (Fark) Sudman. On Nov. 17, 1956, she married Elwood Reineke in Kettlersville, and he preceded her in death in May 1979.

Survivors include her children Steve and Karen Reineke, of Piqua, Larry Reineke, of Sidney, and Julie and Rob Countryman, of Mason, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ruth and Bob Koverman of Troy.

Verona was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville, where she was involved in many aspects of the church, including the women’s guild.

She was an active member of the Red Hat Society participating in their various outings and activities, and she loved to play cards. Verona worked for the former Dairy Farm Products of New Bremen, from the time she was 16 until her retirement.

She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. She would do anything for anyone, and never said no.

She was a kind hearted person who deeply loved her family.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, with the Rev. Allen Sudman officiating.

Burial will be in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen. Calling hours will be from noon until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Independent Hospice or to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
