TRACK: Riders send individuals to regional, Minster boys and girls track win district titles
FOSTORIA — Erin Kinkley won the Division II district high jump championship at Fostoria on Friday night, punching her ticket for this week’s regional meet.
Kinkley, a St. Marys sophomore, cleared five feet, one inch and won a jump-off to earn the district title.
Kinkley will join St. Marys’ Wednesday regional qualifiers Kelly Heitkamp in the pole vault and the St. Marys girls 3200 meter relay team of Sara Lininger, Lexi Grothause, Kristen Dammeyer and Marissa Schrolucke. at the regional meet in Lexington on Thursday and Saturday.
The 3200 meter finals will be run at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The girls high jump will start on Thursday at 4 p.m. The girls pole vault will be contested on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Lexington High School.
Division III at Spencerville
SPENCERVILLE — The Minster boys and girls track teams swept the Division III district track titles at Spencerville on Saturday, as athletes from Minster, New Bremen and New Knoxville will be headed to this week’s regional track meet in Troy after top four finishes.
The Minster boys team scored 155 points to lap the field. Coldwater was second with 77 points and New Bremen took third with 55 points.
The Minster girls team won with 119 points. Marion Local finiished second with 74 points. New Bremen took sixth with 44 points. New Knoxville was 10th with 28 points.
The Troy meet gets underway on Wednesday at 4 p.m. and the finals will be run on Friday at 4 p.m.
New Bremen senior Ben Chaney swept the districthurdles titles. Chaney won the boys 110 meter hurdles with a 15.35-second time and took the 300 hurdles with a 41.9-second time.
New Knoxville’s Andrew Mackie won the boys 400 meter dash championship with a 50.89-second time.
Minster’s Jake Winner won the discus throw with a throw of 154 feet, five inches.
The Minster 800 meter relay team of Troy Kauffman, Paul Dues, Korey Schultz and Derek Collins won with a 1:31.52 time.
Minster’s Francis Slonkosky won the 1600 meter title with a 4:29.13 time — beating out Coldwater’s Mike Seas for the top spot — and Dominic Slonkosky took third to qualify with a 4:32.83 time.
The Minster 1600 meter relay team of Kauffman, Dues, Francis Slonkosky and Schultz won with a 3:32.33 time. New Bremen’s team of Garrett Westerbeck, Elliott Westerbeck, Kremer and Travis was second (3:34.77).
Derek Collins of Minster won the long jump by clearing 21 feet, 4.25 inches.
New Knoxville’s Cassie Boyle won the district championship in the 1600 meter run with a 5:31.45 time. Minster’s Hannah Butler also is a regional qualifier in the event with a second-place 5:35.69 time.
New Bremen’s Elaynne Speckman won the girls 100 meter hurdles title with a 16.0-second time.
The Minster girls 800 meter relay team of Hannah Barga, Sara Dahlinghaus, Olivia Enneking and Samantha Hoelscher won with a 1:47.62 time.
The Minster girls 400 meter relay team of Barga, Kayla Wuebker, Chelsea Stewart and Dahlinghaus won with a 50.54 time.
Minster’s Kayla Wuebker won the girls pole vault by clearing 11 feet, six inches.
