TROY — Minster’s win in the boys 4-by-400 meter relay in the night’s final event in record regional time propelled the Minster boys track team to the Division III regional title on Friday night.
The Wildcat boys finished with 57 points to edge out second-place finishers Covington and West Liberty Salem, who both had 52 points.
The Minster girls finished second behind Versailles. Minster had 49 points while the victorious Tigers had 66.5 points.
The Division III state meet will be at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. and on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Minster’s 4-by-400 meter relay team of Troy Kauffman, Paul Dues, Derek Collins and Korey Schultz won with a 3:21.0 time to set a new regional record.
New Bremen’s Ben Chaney captured the regional title in the boys 110 meter hurdles with a 15.19-second time.
Minster’s Ryan Will finished second in the boys shot put on Friday with a throw of 53 feet, 10 inches to advance to state.
Minster’s Francis Slonkosky advanced to state in the boys 1600 meter run with a fourth-place finish and a 4:24.34 pace.
Minster’s Kayla Wuebker won the girls pole vault, clearing 11 feet, eight inches.
The Minster girls 4-by-100 meter relay team of Hannah Barga, Kayla Wuebker, Chelsea Stewart and Sara Dahlinghaus took third and qualified for state with a 50.42-second time.
The Minster 4-by-400 meter relay team of Gabrielle Barga, Olivia Enneking, Natalie Fausey and Samantha Hoelscher finished third with a 4:02.37 time to advance to state.View more articles in:
