TRACK: Minster 3200 meter relay team sets new district record on Thursday

SPENCERVILLE — The Minster boys 3200 meter relay team smashed the Division III district record by four seconds as part of Minster’s strong start on day one of the meet.

The Minster boys team leads the district meet standings with 45 points after the first day. The New Bremen track team is in 11th after the first day with two points.

The Minster girls are in fifth place after the first day with 12 points, highlighted by a win in the girls 3200 meter relay.

Top four finishers in all finals move on to the Tipp City regional next week.

The running finals and selected field finals will be completed on Saturday.

Boys Top Finishers

The Minster 4-by-800 meter relay team of Andy Albers, Eric Dahlinghaus, Dominic Slonkosky and Francis Slonkosky ran an 8:07.06 time — shaving nearly three seconds off its 8:10 seeding time.

Derek Collins won the boys long jump with a jump of 21 feet, 4.5 inches to capture the district title.

Minster’s Ryan Will took second in the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 9.75 inches. The Wildcats’ Wes Hegemann was fourth with a put of 48 feet, 1.75 inches.

Minster’s A.J. Huelsman took second in the pole vault by clearing 13 feet. The Wildcats’ Alan Tebbe was fourth with a vault of 12 feet, four inches.

The New Bremen 3200 meter relay team of Derek Bornhorst, Brad Rammel, Eric Smart and Drew McClurg was eighth (9:10.69).

New Bremen’s Parker Manger took eighth in the long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 7.25 inches.

Girls Top Finishers

Minster’s 3200 meter relay team of Samantha Hoelscher, Hannah Butler, Gabrielle Barga and Natalie Fausey won the district crown with a time of 9:47.77.

Minster’s Claire McGowan finished seventh in the girls high jump, clearing four feet, 10 inches.
