NEW KNOXVILLE — The St. Henry Redskins outlasted the New Knoxville Rangers 25-20, 24-26, 26-24, 25-27, 15-11, in a Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball opener at The Barn on Thursday. Haley Horstman had 21 digs, 10 kills and 22 assists for the Rangers. Meg Reineke finished the game with 41 digs, two aces and seven kills. Kenzie Schroer had 11 kills and five assists. Rachel Leffel had six kills. Madison Lammers had four kills and a block. Kalyn Schroer added an ace. Jenna Schwieterman had three kills. New Knoxville is 2-3 and 0-1 in the MAC.

SHAWNEE 3, ST. MARYS 2
The St. Marys volleyball team won the first and fourth games, but Shawnee emerged in the fifth for a 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 14-25, 15-13, on Thursday at Shawnee. Lauren May of Shawnee had 15 kills.

NEW BREMEN 3, MINSTER 2
MINSTER — New Bremen came back from a 2-0 deficit  to defeat the Wildcats in five sets 29-31, 17-25, 25-15, 25-13 and 15-10 in a MAC match played at Minster. New Bremen's Karli Jones had 35 assists and 10 digs. Victoria Wente had 14 kills and 17 digs. Kaitlyn Ahrns had 12 kills. Tarynn Clune added 17 digs. Minster's Erica Oldiges had eight kills while Sara Hosey had seven kills. Lauren Roetgerman and Megan Kaiser each had six kills.

BOYS GOLF

VAN WERT 167, ST. MARYS 167
It took a fifth-position tiebreaker for the Van Wert Cougars to earn a Western Buckeye League win over the St. Marys boys golf team on Thursday at Northmoor. St. Marys and Van Wert’s top four players played to a 167-167 tie. Van Wert’s Justin Price was medalist with a 35. St. Marys’ Carter Bowman shot a team-best 37. The Riders’ Colin Burke added a 41. Kyle Kiefer shot a 43, and Jacob Hollman had a 46. Van Wert’s Brandon Hernandez added a 41, Adam Jurcyk hada a 45, Nick Etter shot a 46 and Alex Miller had a 47. St. Marys falls to 2-2 and 2-2 in WBL play. Van Wert improved to 3-2 in WBL play.

ST. HENRY 181, NEW KNOXVILLE 213
The New Knoxville boys golf team fell to St. Henry in Midwest Athletic Conference action 181-213 on Thursday at Arrowhead. David Boesche led New Knoxville with a 50. Brandon Steinke shot a 51. Shane Topp had a 54, and Ben Menke shot a 58 for New Knoxville. Brian Kremer led St. Henry with a medalist 39.

MINSTER 162, NEW BREMEN 165
The Minster boys golf team picked up a 162-165  MAC win over the Cardinals on Thursday at Arrowhead. John Burke led the Wildcats with a 38 while Matt Trushaw and Xavier Francis shot 41s. Austin Brackman had a 42 and Freddie Purdy carded a 44. New Bremen’s Alex Britton was medalist with a 37. Travis Bertelsen shot a 39. Markus Sachtler added a 43 and Jacob O’Neill had a 46. Max Travis shot a 51, and Zach Hegemier had a 54.

GIRLS GOLF
MINSTER 194, NEW BREMEN 196

Minster edged out the Cardinals in a 194-196 in a MAC girls golf match-up at Arrowhead. Minster’s Claire Fisher and Marissa Conrad both fired 42s. Abby Hausfeld shot a 51, Sarah Huwer had a 59, Lisa Borges carded a 63, and Laura Meyer had a 67. New Bremen’s Mackenzie Howell, Rachel Parker and Sydney Holdren all shot 48s to lead New Bremen. Heather Bensman had a 52. Sara Lafleur shot a 53. Amy Schmitmeyer added a 60.

GIRLS TENNIS

VAN WERT 3, ST. MARYS 2

The Van Wert Cougars knocked off the St. Marys girls tennis team 3-2 on Thursday in WBL play. St. Marys’ wins came at doubles.  The team of Avarie Ellis and Bailey Rust beat Van Wert’s Hannah Stemmen and Sydney Felger, 6-4, 6-3 at first doubles.
St. Marys second doubles team of Jenna Perry and Bailey Rust won over Tabitha Tenney and Kali Agler, 6-4, 6-3. At first singles, Abbie Moorland defeated St. Marys’ Anna Ernst, 6-0, 6-0. Sydney Dull of Van Wert won second singles defeated Abby Wilker, 6-4, 6-0. Van Wert’s Claire Butler won third singles over Hannah Felver, 6-0, 6-0.
