Thurday's Sports Round-Up: Ranger, Cardinal volleyball earn wins

VOLLEYBALL

NEW KNOXVILLE 3, FORT RECOVERY 0

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Rangers made quick work of the Fort Recovery Indians, 25-20, 25-17, 25-17, in Midwest Athletic Conference action at The Barn on Thursday.

Madison Lammers led New Knoxville with seven kills. Taylor Niemeyer and Meg Reineke each added six kills.

Kalyn Schroer and Abby Rohrbach each had three aces.

New Knoxville improved to 14-5 and 6-2 in the MAC.

NEW BREMEN 3, PARKWAY 2

ROCKFORD — The New Bremen volleyball team pulled out a win in five sets, 26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 21-25, 15-10.

Haley Moeller led the way for the Cardinals with 13 kills.

Julie Brown had seven kills, four service aces and six blocks.

Tarynn Clune had 25 digs and Karli Jones had 38 assists.

O-G 3, ST. MARYS 0

OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf remained unbeaten in Western Buckeye League play with a 25-14, 25-13, 25-21 win over the St. Marys volleyball team on Thursday night.

Niki Ellerbrock recorded nine kills to lead the Titans. Anna Bellman had eight kills.

MARION LOCAL 3, MINSTER 0

MINSTER — The Flyers rolled past the Minster Wildcats in three sets 25-7, 25-10 and 25-15 in a Midwest Athletic Conference match at Minster on Thursday.

"I was happy to see that this was the most diversified attack that we have had this year. Everybody had at least seven kills for us.”Flyers head coach Amy Steininger said.

Marion Local had their five hitters with at least seven kills. Claire Heitkamp led with 11 kills, Clara Wuebker had nine kills, Cadence Jacobs had eight kills and Hannah Heitbrink and Gina Kramer each had seven kills.

The Flyers stay undefeated in the MAC at 7-0 and 16-3 overall. They will travel to Anna on Monday and entertain Versailles on Tuesday and Fort Recovery on Thursday, while Minster (10-9, 3-4) will entertain Spencerville on Monday and travel to New Bremen on Tuesday.

 

GIRLS SOCCER
ST. MARYS 3, LIMA CENTRAL CATHOLIC 2

The St. Marys girls soccer team got a good test from the LCC T-Birds, but the Roughriders pulled out a 3-2 win on Thursday.

Molly Albert, Kristen Dammeyer and Skylar Liming scored goals for St. Marys.

Kelly Heitkamp had two assists. Bella Godinho added an assist for the Riders.

St. Marys improves to 11-1-1 on the season. The Roughriders travel to Fort Jennings on Monday before closing the season with home matches against Shawnee and Greenville.

Sydney Santaguida and Liz Tafflinger each had a goal for LCC. The T-Birds fall to 8-4-1 on the season.
