Thomas G. Cross, 65

Thomas G. Cross, 65, formerly of 618 W. Spring St. in St. Marys, died at 7:21 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Ohio Veterans’ Home in Georgetown, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born on Sept. 3, 1947, in Lima, to Harry and Doris (Goodwin) Cross.

Survivors include a son, Travis (Caroline) Cross  of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Tessa (Todd) Trail  of Dallas, Ga. and Stephanie Cross  of Cincinnati; six grandchildren,  Alex, Chance, Tyler, Tanner, Tayla and Tristen; a sister, Lesta (Carl) Thoene  of St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Doris Cross.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served aboard the USS Meredith during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as an electrician for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys.

He owned and operated the former Horseshoe Creek Motorcycle Race Track in Montezuma, and Buckos Carry Out and Arcade, both in downtown St. Marys.

He was a member of Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 in St. Marys.

His favorite pastime was playing cards and golfing with his friends.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys, the Rev. Jim Sweigart, officiating.

Private family burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima.

Visitation 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be directed to Calvary Christian Fellowship in St. Marys.

The family of Thomas Cross wishes to express their heartfelt “Thanks” to the staff of Ohio Veterans’ Home and Crossroads Hospice Program for the exceptional care and treatment of “Daddy.”
