TENNIS: St. Marys' Parker and Dammeyer finish fourth at WBL

LIMA — The St. Marys first doubles team of Josh Parker and Kevin Dammeyer finished fourth at the Western Buckeye League tournament on Saturday.

After advancing to Saturday’s action with a win on Thursday, Dammeyer and Parker fell to Shawnee’s Derek Smith and Garrett Diltz in a semifinal match, 1-6, 1-6.

Parker and Dammeyer lost to Rex Axbell and Anthony Kennard of Wapakoneta in a third-place match, 1-6, 1-6.

St. Marys finished the WBL tounament in fifth with 16 points. shawnee won the tournament title and the regular season title to win the WBL championship.

WBL champions were Johnny Rutter of Shawnee at first singles, John Lammers of O-G at second singles, Zach Diltz of Shwanee at third singles, Smith and Diltz of Shawnee at first doubles and Brian Guillen and Josh Thomas of Wapakoneta at second doubles.

St. Marys will begin sectional play on Thursday.
