TENNIS: Celina edges St. Marys, 3-2

The Celina boys tennis team won two of the three singles matches while splitting the doubles matches to edge St. Marys in a Western Buckeye League match on Friday evening.

Celina earned a three-set win from Aaron Seibel at second singles over the Riders’ Cole Brooks, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, in the night’s most closely-contested match-up.

Celina’s Jeremy Walls won third singles over the Riders’ Jason Freewalt, 6-1, 6-0.

Celina’s third win came at first doubles as Isaac Elston and Kris LeJeune downed St. Marys’ Kevin Dammeyer and Josh Parker, 6-2, 6-2.

St. Marys earned wins at first singles and second doubles.

The Riders’ first singles player Troy Newlove earned a 7-5, 6-3 win.

At second doubles, the Riders’ Tyler Parent and Jacob Little won, 7-6, 7-5.

St. Marys fell to 7-5, 4-3 in the WBL.The Roughriders travel to Piqua on Monday night.
