CELINA — A Fort Recovery High School teacher was arrested on a sex charge.
In a news release, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced the arrest of Christopher A. Summers, 32, 671 Woodlawn Ave., St. Henry, who was charged with sexual battery, a felony of the third degree. Summers is an accounting teacher and former girls junior varsity basketball coach.
The sheriff’s office was contacted at approximately 3 p.m. Monday by the alleged victim and her family. The investigation revealed that Summers knew the alleged victim from school and began a relationship that lasted nearly three years.
The alleged criminal conduct occurred at Summers’ residence and at a hotel in a neighboring county. The sheriff’s office applied for and received a search warrant on Tuesday to search Summers’ residence. Computers, cameras and other electronic equipment were seized.
“We have no reason to believe, at this point, that any of the criminal conduct occurred during school events or on school property,” Grey said in the news release. “Fort Recovery Schools has cooperated fully and without hesitation.”
The investigation is continuing, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case to determine if additional charges should be filed.
“At this point in the investigation, we know of no other victims and no other information is being released,” Grey said.
