SWIMMING: Area swimmers earn honors from coaches association

Area swimmers earned Lima All-Area Swimming honors recently for their work in the pool over the winter. The Lima Area Swim Coaches Association voted on the awards.

Boys

  • St. Marys sophomore Jared Deubler earned Honors distinction, along with Celina’s Peyton Jones, Matt Feltz, Collen Byer and Tyus Temple.
  • New Bremen’s Brandon Meyer was Special Mention, along with Celina’s T.J. Spengler and Kasyn Fishbaugh.
  • St. Marys’ Matt Hollman earned Honorable Mention along with Minster’s Alan Tebbe.


Girls

  • Minster’s Nikki Borgerding was named to the girls Honors list. The Wildcat freshman became the first Minster swimmer to ever qualify for the state meet.
  • Celina’s Detho Hasenjager, Paige Dorsten and Brooke Mertz earned top honors.
  • St. Marys’ Molly Menker was named Special Mention.
  • The Riders’ Molly Hertenstein was named Honorable Mention.
  • Minster’s Claire McGowan, Kara Kitzmiller and Leah Niekamp were named Honorable Mention.
  • New Bremen’s Chrissi Wisvari and Stephanie Brandt were Honorable Mention.
