Susan K. “Susie” Hardin, 63

Susan K. “Susie” Hardin, 63, of 11746 Bay Road, Wapakoneta, died at 5:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, following a short battle with cancer.

She was born on April 14, 1949, in Mercer County, the daughter of George and Carol (Lehman) Whitehead, and her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives her in St. Marys.

On April 20, 1968, she married Mickael Hardin, and he survives at the residence.

She is also survived by four children, Jodi (Jeremy) Leonard of Celina, Kimberly (Dan) Boltz of Coldwater, Toby (Tracey) Hardin of Greenfield, Ind., and Shane (parter Kody Addison) Hardin of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren, Ryan Keeling, Hunter Boltz, Hannah Boltz, Abbie Leonard, Kenzie Hardin, Noah Leonard and Ross Hardin; a brother, Jeffrey Whitehead of Phoenix, Ariz.; her niece, Kristin Whitehead of Phoenix; a nephew, Joshua Whitehead of Phoenix; her close friends, Kathy Metz, Don “Deke” Shuler, Kerri Masonbrink, Dustin and Jennifer Shonk, Jim and Joyce Miller and Chet and Jill Wyatt; by her stepmother, Pearl Whitehead of St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Leonard; her mother-in-law, Thelma Rupert Hardin; her close friend, Paula Burris.

Susie was a 1967 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed doing needlepoint work.

She enjoyed fishing and being outdoors, horticulture and horses. She had been a member of the St. Marys Lakettes, and she was an avid fan of the Reds, Indians and Ohio State University Buckeyes.

She was a great cook and was extremely dedicated to her children and grandchildren.

Over the years, Susie enjoyed raising golden retrievers including Ogie, Rocky, Rusty, Casey, Cody and Storm.

She attended New Start Church of God in Celina.

Funeral rites will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Start Church of God, 7729 U.S. Route 127, Celina, with the Rev. John Mobley officiating.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, where memorial gifts may be made to New Start Church of God.
