Urbana outscored St. Marys 28-10 in three quarters of football in the Chicken Bowl scrimmage at Skip Baughman Stadium on Friday night.

St. Marys scored the game’s first 10 points.

St. Marys struck first in the scrimmage with a long D.J. Manning run. Manning scampered 69 yards down to the Urbana two yard line, punching it in on the next play for the two-yard score with 10:18 left in the first quarter.

St. Marys added a Jarret Taylor field goal from about 25 yards out to make it 10-0.

Urbana scored the next 28 points over the ensuing two and a half quarters.

Friday’s scrimmage will be the only game action St. Marys will have at Baughman Stadium until September 9. The Roughriders hit the road for a season opener next Friday against Sidney and then travel to Kenton for the Western Buckeye League opener on Sept. 2.

Urbana, a Division III team in the same region as St. Marys, finished the 2010 season at 7-3 and in 12th place in the regional standings.
