St. Marys Man Arrested On Heroin Charge

January 23, 2014

ST. MARYS — A St. Marys man was arrested on a drug charge Tuesday night by members of the Grand Lake Task Force.

Scott Neace, 41, of St. Marys, was arrested at approximately 6:18 p.m. Tuesday following a traffic stop at U.S. 33 and Townline Kossuth Road. Members of the Grand Lake Task Force were conducting an investigation into the delivery of heroin into the area from Dayton. During a search of Neace's vehicle, officers allegedly found a substantial amount of heroin as well as drug paraphernalia.

Neace was arrested on a charge of heroin possession and booked into the Auglaize County Jail. He is being held on a $50,000 bond with a 10 percent cash provision.

"The heroin problem is escalating in this area and we are working hard at getting the source of the drug," Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said in a news release. "This is a typical case of someone going to the Dayton area and buying the heroin to be sold in this community."

Solomon encouraged residents to call the Grand Lake Drug Task Force with any information concerning heroin use, sale or any other drug issues. The task force's phone number is 419-739-2966 and callers can remain anonymous.
