St. Marys girls track team gets a pair of 3rd place finishes at WBL meet

LIMA — The St. Marys girls track team received two third-place finishes on the first day of the Western Buckeye League championship meet at Bath Stadium on Wednesday.

The St. Marys girls 3200 meter relay team of Kristen Dammeyer, Lexi Grothause, Tarin Tischler and Amanda Dues finished third with a 10:03.91 time.

St. Marys’ Mariah Heffner finished third in the girls discus throw with a throw of 114 feet, eight inches.

The St. Marys boys 3200 meter relay team of Matt Dine, Alex Mielke, Nick Durkee and Det Mines finished seventh (8:57.25).

Celina’s Michaela Wenning won the girls high jump (5-4). St. Mary’s Natalie Kuenning and Erin Kinkley tied for ninth (4-6).

Defiance’s girls lead after the first day with three events gone final. The Bulldogs have 24 points. Celina is second with 21 points, Wapakoneta is third with 15 points. St. Marys is fifth with 12 points.

The O-G boys lead after the first day with 39 points. Wapak is third (17), Celina is fourth (10).
