St. Marys advances to regional semifinals in team duals tournament

LEWISTOWN — The St. Marys wrestling team began state dual tournament action with a pair of close victories on Wednesday night at Indian Lake High School. The Roughriders edged out Bellefontaine 35-34 and Indian Lake 37-34.

The Roughriders advance to the regional semifinals and will face Wapakoneta next Wednesday night at 5 p.m. at a site to be determined. The winner of the St. Marys-Wapakoneta match advance to the regional championship match against the winner of Wauseon and Toledo Central Catholic 20 minutes after the semifinal matches.

St. Marys will compete in a super tri at Celina tonight. The match was postponed on Tuesday night because of inclement weather. Wrestling begins at 6 p.m. at Celina The Roughriders then travel to the Elmwood duals on Saturday.
 

St. Marys 35, Belleftontaine 34
Garrett Hower won via tech fall at 113 pounds over Dylan Christman, 9-3.
Eddie Reier won a 9-3 decision over Bryan Ward at 120 pounds. St. Marys’ Austin Quellhorst won an 8-3 decision over Seth Newman at 126 pounds.The Riders’ Devon McCallister pinned Austin Allen at 160 pounds at the 4:22 mark. St. Marys’ Spencer Knous pinned Jonathan King at 195 poujnds at the 1:53 mark.

St. Marys 37, Indian Lake 34
The Riders’ Justin Nedderman won via void at 106 pounds. Hower got a major decision victory over Sean Warmiment at 113 pounds with a 15-3 score. St. Marys’ Boston Hensley pinned Ty Babb at the 5:16 mark at 132 pounds. St. Marys’ Patrick Day won an 8-6 decision over Corinne Thomas. St. Marys’ Luke Lemmerman pinned Want Warniment at 182 pounds at the 5:53 mark. Knous won via a void at 195 pounds. Tate Carlon of St. Marys pinned Nate Ricketts at the 1:30 mark at 285 pounds.
