St. Marys ACME wins twin bill

June 13, 2011

CELINA — The St. Marys ACME baseball team jumped out early against its first Mercer County foe and then rallied late in its second to leave Celina with a pair of satisfying wins on Saturday.

The Roughriders swept their two round robin tourney wins at Celina with a 11-4 thumping of Coldwater in the afternoon game and a 5-1 comeback win over Celina in the nightcap at Montgomery Field.

“Any time you can beat Coldwater and Celina, let alone in the same day, you’re really happy,” St. Marys ACME coach Alan Huber said. “We were fortunate because we had some really good pitching performances. We played really solid defense in both games, especially in that game against Coldwater.”

The Roughriders improved to 4-1 on the season and will travel to Lima Shawnee tonight at 6:30 p.m.
