For a few minutes midway through the second quarter everything St. Henry tossed at the basket seemed to splash through the net.
That big second quarter surge lifted the Redskins to a 73-57 win over the St. Marys boys basketball team on Friday night at Murotech Court in St. Marys.
St. Henry’s potent offense had four players in double-digits, with Kyle Stahl leading the way with 19 points and 12 points. Alex Post added 13 for the 2-0 Redskins.
The Redskins went 10-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc in the second to explode for 26 points.
“It seemed like they were two steps ahead of us in the first half,” St. Marys head coach Dan Hegemier said.
During one stretch in that second quarter the Redskins scored on seven straight possessions and went to the half with a 44-21 lead.
On Friday St. Henry hit 58 percent of its shots and 66 percent of its shots inside the three-point arc.
Juniors Garet Fledderjohann and Austin James scored 17 points apiece to lead St. Marys, which fell to 0-3 on the season with its third consecutive loss to a Midwest Athletic Conference team in a week’s time.
