SOCCER: St. Marys boys and girls soccer teams beat Greenville
With the soccer ball colored pink and the Riders wearing jerseys with pink numbers for the Cure for Cancer match, the St. Marys Roughriders closed the regular season with a 7-0 win over Greenville on Saturday.
“We did what we had to do to win,” St. Marys head coach Paul Dingledine said.

The Riders rarely allowed the Green Wave to get across midfield, while the Riders had the pressure on them throughout the contest.
Molly Albert scored two goals while Courtney Christman, Kelly Heitkamp, Sara Little, Sklyar Liming and Kristen Dammeyer added a goal apiece.
In the game the Riders had seven assists, seven goals and 23 shots.
The Riders begin tournament play at Celina on Tuesday in the Division II sectional against Van Wert at 5 p.m.
ST. MARYS 3, GREENVILLE 0: The St. Marys boys soccer team finished off the regular season with its 12th victory — a 3-0 blanking of Greenville on Saturday.
St. Marys (12-1-3) won its 12th game of the season to wrap up the regular season 12-1-3 and bounced back from its first loss of the season on Thursday against Shawnee with its 10th defensive shutout of the season.
The Roughriders’ 12th win matches their win total from a season ago when the Riders went 12-5. St. Marys has won 10 or more games the past three seasons.
St. Marys will now enter the postseason and play the winner of Wapakoneta and Elida on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Wapakoneta.
Zac Nelson finished the regular season leading the Riders with 11 goals scored. Brennan Brown, Zack Wilker and Patrizio Martinez each have nine goals. Matt Dine has seven goals.
Brown and Wilker each have 10 assists. Tyler Parent has eight assists.
