ST. MARYS — Members of the St. Marys Board of Education hired a new athletic director during a special meeting Tuesday evening.

St. Marys resident Jim Hollman, who served as a sixth grade social studies teacher, was hired for the job. Superintendent Shawn Brown said he is confident Hollman will put an end to the high turnover this position has seen recently.

“He was the best candidate,” Brown said.

“He is a lifelong resident, he’s a former student athlete at MHS. He coached varsity football, he’s coached varsity track, he’s coached at different levels of various sports with his own children, so he’s got some experience ... I think that Mr. Hollman will stick around and lead us (in) the right direction.”
