NEW BREMEN — Troopers with the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a crash at the intersection of State Route 66 and State Route 219, with one person being injured on Thursday.

Troopers were dispatched to the intersection at 6:17 a.m., and they are investigating the two-vehicle injury crash involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle.

According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 1997 Ford Semi was being operated northbound on 66 by Clifford L. Wise Jr., 56, of St. Marys. A 2007 Ford Focus was being operated eastbound on 219 by Lyndell L. Belcher, 46, of Celina. Belcher failed to stop for the stop sign at 66 and drove into the side of Wise as he crossed the intersection, causing heavy damage to the Ford Focus.

Wise was not injured, but Belcher sustained serious injuries and was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.

Seatbelts were in use, and alcohol is not a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
