Ruth May Hubbard, 74

Ruth May Hubbard, 74, of Lafayette, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011.  

She was born on Jan. 20, 1937, in St. Marys, to Howard and Ruth Boroff Thomas, and they preceded her in death.

On Jan. 6, 1956, in Lafayette, she married Elmer Hubbard, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca R. (Bob) Zeck of Lafayette and Karen S. (Scott) Eisert of West Lafayette; two sons, Thomas E. (Ann) Hubbard of Peru, Ind., and Timothy W. Hubbard of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Dale (Mary Ann) Thomas of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren, Chris Zeck, Adam J. Blankenship, Tina Zeck, Stacy Peterson, Candice Goss, Brent Hubbard and Emilie Hubbard; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Blankenship, Tye Blankenship, Aiden Zeck and Isabella Goss.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, John Thomas, Ross Thomas, Doyt Thomas, Glen Thomas and Carl Thomas; a sister, Edith Harner; a great-granddaughter, Dinah Zeck.

She worked as a nurse’s aid, and in Central Scheduling at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her cats and dogs.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, with visitation one hour before the service at Simplicity Funeral Care, 1608 Schuyler Ave., Lafayette, Ind., with the Rev. Sunday Bunch officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society. Simplicity Funeral Care was entrusted with care.
