Ruth E. Leugers, 88, of St. Marys died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in the emergency department of JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on May 15, 1924, in Celina to Edmund J. and Frances K. (Meyer) Pax.
On Nov. 20, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, OH she married Lloyd “Louie” Leugers, who preceded her in death on April 5, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, John (Lucinda) Leugers of New Bremen and Jerry (Pat) Leugers of Fairfax Station, Va.; three daughters, Theresa (Charles) Rowen of St. Marys, Patricia Pertz of Perrysburg and Mary Jo (Ken) Sheeley of Richmond, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 8 sisters, Mary Catherine Brunswick of Minster, Norma Irvin of Cincinnati, Madonna Issen of Daphne, Ala., Bernadette Disque of Cincinnati, Rita (Norman) Klosterman of Celina, Barbara Geiser of Fostoria, Edwina (Gordon) Meyer of Huber Heights, Florentine (Don) Cafferty of Cincinnati; a brother, LaVern (Shirley) of Pickerington; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Pax of Mesa, Ariz. and Ruby Pax of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd “Louie” Leugers; parents Edmund and Frances Pax; brother Richard Pax; sister Juanita Schindler; brother Leonard Pax, brother Charles Pax and brother Vincent Pax.
She was a 1942 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Celina. She was a homemaker and worked in Central Supply for JTDM Hospital for a number of years. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, its altar-rosary sodality and the Legion of Mary.
Her favorite pastimes included crocheting and gardening. Her family appreciated the delicious meals and cookies she made. She also enjoyed doing crafts and volunteering for her church activities, especially its annual garage sale. Decorating for the Christmas season provided the opportunity to display her vast collection of Santa Claus figurines. Ruth will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.
