Runners from St. Marys, New Knoxville and Minster headed to state
TIFFIN — In her first season of running cross country, St. Marys’ Kristen Dammeyer is headed to state.
The Roughrider senior finished 13th overall in the girls Division II regional meet at Tiffin on Saturday to advance to next Saturday’s state championship meet at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, just outside of Columbus. The Division II girls run at 11:45 a.m.
Dammeyer ran a 19:37.72 on a frosty Saturday that had runners battling the course, opponents and some cold winds sweeping across Hedges Boyer Park.
The St. Marys girls cross country team wrapped up its strong season with a 9th place team finish in the meet.

Division III at Tiffin
TIFFIN — The Minster girls cross country team along with a group of runners from New Knoxville and Minster are headed to state.
The Wildcat girls finished third in the Division III regional meet at Tiffin on Saturday to punch their ticket for National Trail Raceway in Hebron, New Knoxville’s Cassie Boyle is returning to state and the Minster and New Knoxville boys teams will advance the Rangers’s Isaac Kuntz along with the Wildcats’ Ben Butler and Dominic Slonkosky.
Div. III Girls
Liberty Center won the girls regional title with 47 points, Coldwater was second with 52 points and Minster had 60 points in a packed top of the leaderboard.
Minster’s Morgan Pohl, a freshman, led the Minster attack with a 19:19 time and fifth-place finish.
New Knoxville’s Cassie Boyle will return to state with a seventh place finish and 19:32 time.
Minster’s Kaci Bornhorst turned in a 9th place finish (19:38). Ali Borgerding finished 12th (19:48) and Lisa Barlage was 20th (20:16).
Div. III Boys
The Minster boys team finished one spot out of a state berth in fifth with 169 points, edged out by fourth-place St. Henry’s 163 points. New Bremen finished seventh with 189 points.
Minster’s Butler, a sophomore, was the top area boys finisher in eighth place with a 16:35 time. New Knoxville’s Kuntz, a senior, took 10th with a 16:39 time. Minster’s Slonkosky, a senior, finished 12th with a 16:43 pace.
New Bremen’s Cort Speckman narrowly missed out with a 19th-place finish and 17:01 time. The top 16 runners make it to state from the regional.
State Meet Information
The Division III girls state meet will begin at 11 a.m. at National Trail Raceway. The Division III boys starts at 1:30 p.m.
The raceway is located in Hebron.
