ROUND-UP: St. Marys doubles team bows out at district, St. Marys boys 4x800 relay team takes 7th

The St. Marys doubles team of Troy Newlove and Cole Brooks bowed out of the Division II district tennis meet on Wednesdsay.

Brooks and Newlove won their opening match against St. Marys Central Catholic's Alex Opfer and Tanner Roth, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4.

The Riders then faced Maumee Valley Country Day's top-seeded team of Grand McPherson and Stephen Shin. MVCD topped St. Marys, 6-0, 6-1, to advance to the semifinals.

TRACK: St. Marys 4x800 meter relay team takes 7th

FOSTORIA — The St. Marys boys 4-by-800 meter relay team of Anthony Tenney, Detrique Mines, Brennan Brown and Alex Mielke finished seventh at the Division II district track meet at Fostoria on Wednesday.

The 3200 meter relay team finished with an 8:32.74 time to earn two points for the Riders.

St. Marys’ Luke Lemmerman and Brennan Brown both qualified for the boys 300 meter hurdles final by finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, in the preliminaries.

The boys and girls running finals and selected field events will have their finals on Friday night starting at 4:30 p.m. at Fostoria High School.
