Robert L. Kohlreiser Sr., 84, of St. Marys, died on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on March 17, 1930, in Hume, the son of the late Wilbur and Minnie (Fogt) Kohlrieser.
On Aug. 11, 1951, he married Eunice M. Stienecker, who died on Sept. 17, 2011.
He is survived by their children, Mailyn (Larry) Mills of St. Marys; Mary (Mike) Zimmerman of St Marys and Robert Kohlreiser Jr. of California; grandchildren Shawn (Alexandra) Mills of North Ridgeville; Ryan (Jasmine) Mills of Rockford; Chad (Christina) Luedeke of Union City, Tenn.; MMCS Brock (Amy) Luedeke of Norfolk, Va,; and Ashley (Dominic) Helmstetter of Tiffin; great-grandchildren Jeremy and Conner Mills; Nick Luedeke; Miley and Skyler Helmstetter and stepgreat-grandchildren Xaiver and Gabreil Hagens.
Robert was also preceded in death by grandchildren Christy Ann Mills, Jamie Lyn Mills and stepgranddaughter Lendsay Zimmerman.
Robert was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys. He was a past member of the VFW Post 9289 and American Legion Post 323, both of St. Marys.
He and his wife enjoyed years of ballroom dancing. He loved to spend time outdoors, and he spent most of his time tinkering in his garage, were he would repair lawn mowers, bicycles and vacuums.
Robert had previously worked for the railroad and also for Goodyear in St. Marys, from which he retired in 1993.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, the Rev. Ed Bray officiating.
There will be one hour of visitation prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
