Robert J. Meyer, 89 of 409 N. Main St., Botkins, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at his home. 

He was born on April 27, 1924 in Minster, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Schmitmeyer) Meyer.

On Feb. 8, 1947, Bob married Florentine C. Eyink who survives in Botkins. He is also survived by his children,  Ron and Diane Meyer, Botkins; Shirley and Nick Baldwin, Cleveland;  Dan and Dawn Meyer, Botkins; Mary Lou and Lee Pitts, Botkins; Lucy Meyer, San Diego, Calif.; Pat and Anna Meyer, Botkins; Robert A. “Bobby” and Sharon Meyer, Botkins; 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

He is also survived by brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law.

He served during World War II in the Merchant Marines. 

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins with the Rev. Pat Sloneker celebrant. 

Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. 

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, in Minster from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday. 

Memorial donations may be made to Shelby County Right to Life, Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery and the Botkins Young Farmers Scholarship Fund.
