Robert J. Carson, 71, of 719 Armstrong St., St. Marys, died at 9:13 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1940, in Celina, to Robert M. and Ruth A. (Makley) Carson, and they preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, John (Tammy) Carson of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Britney and John “Bucky” Carson Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Alexis; five sisters, Shari (Ron) Hinman of Phoenix, Ariz., Dottie (Bob) Stoffer of Shiloh, Connie Nagel of St. Marys, Mary “Tish” Weinberg of Marengo and Dolly Carson of Minster.

He was a 1959 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.

He retired from Omni Manufacturing Co. in St. Marys. He had also previously worked construction as a member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.

Private family funeral rites will be held.
