Robert J. “Bob” Fritz, 89

Robert J. “Bob” Fritz, 89, of 2304 Kensington Drive, St. Marys, and a resident of the St. Marys Living Center, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at the St. Marys Living Center.

He was born on March 29, 1924, in Wapakoneta, the son of Oliver and Minerva (Dresher) Fritz.

He married Dorothy L. Jurosic on May 25, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, and she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his two children, Nancy (Rick) Hornich of Mount Vernon; David (Susan) Fritz of St. Marys; by five grandchildren, Ashley Bunnell of Columbus; Matthew Bunnell of Jacksonville, Fla.; Laura (Dustin) Taylor of St. Marys; Amy (Jon) Crusie of Celina; Kelly Fritz of St. Marys; and by two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Logan Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister, Betty Vogel.

Bob was a graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from Crown Equipment Corporation, where he was maintenance supervisor. He had also worked at Moran’s Refrigeration in St. Marys for many years and also owned his own appliance repair business.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting. He was a life member of the NRA. He was a member of American Legion Post 323 and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys. He was a real handyman who could repair anything.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiant.

Burial with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either the Friends of Holy Rosary School, Grand Lake Hospice or St. Marys Living Center.
