Robert E. Hunter, 89

Robert E. Hunter, 89, formerly of 800 Motz St., St. Marys, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 29, 1923, in St. Marys, the son of Robert and Vivian (Clark) Hunter. He married Charleen Fark on April 14, 1945, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2004.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Koch of St. Marys; by four grandchildren, Michael (Kristi) Koch of St. Marys, Christopher Hunter of Milan, Mich., Robert (Teresa) Koch of St. Marys and Jodie (Rob) Perkins of Celina; by 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Michael Hunter; by two brothers, Richard and Charles Hunter.

Bob attended St. Marys Memorial High School and the joined the United States Army during World War II, where he served as a map printer.

He had worked in the family printing business, Hunter Printing in St. Marys, and also worked at The Evening Leader Printing Company. He retired from Crown Equipment Corporation.

He was a member of American Legion Post 323, VFW Post 9289 and Eagles Lodge 767, all in St. Marys. He was a member of the St. Marys Mens Garden Club and West Ohio Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a great jokester, and he enjoyed attending the Pantry Pride Coffee Club.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys, with the Rev. Al Baker, officiant. Burial, with military honors, with follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, where memorial gifts may be given to the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys. Condolences may be sent to Bob’s family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
