Rita E. (Mersman) Gibbons, 89

Rita E. (Mersman) Gibbons, 89, of 630 N. Cherry St., Celina, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at the Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1922, in Celina, to Albert and Nora (Fortman) Mersman, and they preceded her in death.

On June 2, 1945, she married John C. Gibbons, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2008.

Rita is survived by two sons, John (Pamela) Gibbons of Sonoma, Calif., and Kim (Cindy) Gibbons of Celina; three daughters, Susan (Jim) Buschur of Fort Wayne, Beverly (Mark) Kuenning of Celina and Kathy (Dan) Kennard of Findlay; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister; many friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers;  four sisters.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and before 10 a.m. Monday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Education Endowment of Immaculate Conception or to the Otterbein of St. Marys Retirement Community.
