Rider tennis sweeps Van Wert, 5-0

VAN WERT — The St. Marys boys tennis team evened its record in Western Buckeye League play with a 5-0 sweep over Van Wert on Tuesday night.

The Roughriders are 3-2 on the season, 1-1 in the WBL.

Troy Newlove captured first singles with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Nathan Knodel.

Cole Brooks defeated Jon Lisa in second singles, 6-4, 6-4.

Rider third singles player Jason Freewalt beat Alex Bair, 6-3, 6-3.

The St. Marys first doubles duo of Josh Parker and Kevin Dammeyer defeated Trey Stemen and Josh Hill, 6-3, 6-0.

The Riders’ second doubles team of Jacob Little and Tyler Parent won over Van Wert’s Rob Triscety and Erik Yeuns, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5).
