Randy A. Tomberlin 59

Randy A. Tomberlin 59, of 617 Royal Oak Drive, St. Marys, died suddenly at 1:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

He was born June 25, 1955, in St. Marys, the son of Don and Susan Jane (Stephenson) Tomberlin.

He married Theresa “Terri” Patterson on March 1, 1982, and she survives at the residence.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy Eshleman (Gregg) Schmidt of St. Marys; by two sons, Ty (Maggie) Tomberlin of St. Marys and Chance Tomberlin of St. Marys; five grandchildren, Gage Schmidt; Carter Schmidt; Jillian Tomberlin; Brody Tomberlin and Deacon Tomberlin; by one brother, Rick Tomberlin of Decatur, Texas; and by a niece, Precious Rowe of Spencerville.

His mother, Susan Jane Tomberlin, survives in St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Randy was a 1973 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired as a captain of the city of St. Marys Fire Department, where he was a firefighter and paramedic. Following his retirement, he worked as a paramedic at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Patient Transport Service, where he provided critical care to patients.

The love of Randy’s life was his grandchildren and family. He enjoyed riding his Harley, and was a member of the Barbarians Motorcycle Club.  

Funeral rites will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. John Mobley, officiant.

Burial, with military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
