Quinton Slone, 74

Quinton Slone, 74, of 409 Beech St., St. Marys, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in St. Marys.

He was born on June 28, 1939, in Pippa Passes, Ky., the son of Amos and Cloia Slone.

He married Betty Slone on Aug. 5, 1959, and she survives at the residence.

He is survived by nine children, Patty Mabry of St. Marys; Cindy (Steve) Sharp of St. Marys; Tina (John) White of New Gloucester, Maine; Mary (Matt) Brown of St. Marys; James Slone of St. Marys; Tony (Elizabeth) Slone of Sidney; Tom (Stephanie) Slone of Mineral Wells, W. Va.; Timothy (Melissa) Whited of St. Marys; and Todd (Mary) Slone of West Farmington.

He is survived by 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his siblings, Ivan Slone of Washington; Jim (Pauline) Slone of St. Marys; Betty Sexton of Wayland, Ky.; Phyllis (Nick) Christian of St. Marys; Kathy (Dennis) Worster of Spencerville; Judy (Faron) Skeens of Wayland, Ky.; Deb (Sean) Stephens of St. Marys; Tammy (Bob) Mabry of St. Marys; Stacey (Roger) Smith of St. Marys; by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Ann Thornsberry; a sister, Jessie Allen; a grandson, Corey Michael Brown.

Quinton was a graduate of Pippa Passes High School. He retired from Hayes-Albion Corporation.

He attended the St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church. He loved to go racoon hunting, visit flea markets and collect guns. He loved spending time with his wife and family.

Funeral rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Art Slone officiant.

Graveside burial rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pippa Passes, Ky.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
