Paul R. Fortman, 90

Paul R. Fortman, 90, formerly of 14586 Ohio 66 North, St. Marys, died at 10:39 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Otterbein — St. Marys.

He was born on Nov. 6, 1921, in St. Marys, to Frank and Alena (Gerstner) Fortman, and they preceded him in death.

On Oct. 28, 1948, in Celina, he married Florence A. Miller, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 1986.

He is survived by seven children, Frank (Vanessa) Fortman of Uniopolis, Ed (Sandy) Fortman of St. Marys, Kathleen (Kim) Lampert of St. Marys, Mary (David) Landis of Port Hueneme, Calif.,  Carl (Kim) Fortman of St. Marys, John (Gina) Fortman of Corinth, Texas, and Linda (Tim) Ekberg of Walton, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Bonnie Lou and Connie Sue Fortman; two grandsons, Danny Fortman and John Landis; six brothers, Franklin Fortman, Clarence Fortman, Leo Fortman, Bernard Fortman, Robert Fortman and Charles Fortman; two sisters, Mary Agnes Anderson and Catherine Cozad.

He was a farmer and a meat cutter, having worked at the former Fortman’s Market in St. Marys for a number of years. He also was a production employee for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.

His favorite pastime, other than farming, was fishing.

A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St. Chapel, St. Marys.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Otterbein or to Grand Lake Hospice Program.
