Paul L. Schumacher, 74, of 07947 Southland Road, New Knoxville died 1:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Golden Living Center.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1938, in New Weston the son of Oscar and Gertrude (Guggenbiller) Schumacher.
He married Janice Schrolucke on Oct. 20, 1962 and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his two daughters Lorraine (John) Kridner of Goodyear, Ariz.; Jenette (Marty) Stauffer of Wapakoneta; by two grandsons, Casey and Coy Stauffer. He is survived by three sisters, Esther Zizelman of Rockford; Alice (Jack) Provci of Rockford; Wilma (Ken) Paysen of Tegacay, S.C.; by a sister-in-law, Helen Schumacher of Foley, Ala.; by sisters-in-law Dorothy Prueter of New Knoxville; Grace Young of St. Marys; Mary (Carl W.) Schmehl of St. Marys; Kathryn Schrolucke of New Knoxville; Gwen Schrolucke of Dayton.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Schumacher; by his mother, Gertrude Schumacher Leist; by a brother, Ralph Schumacher; by brothers-in-law George Zizeman; Aaron Schrolucke; Charles Schrolucke; James Prueter and James Young.
He attended Celina High School and retired from Stamco Corp. in New Bremen after 35 years of service. He had also worked at Shively Plasterers and Wolff’s Tire Service in Celina.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where he had served as an elder and deacon.
He also helped pack boxes for servicemen through Operation New Knoxville Cares. He had served in the Ohio National Guard.
He was a member of the Moulton Gun Club and served on board of Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. He liked to read, hunt and fish.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Rev. Dr. David Williams, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the Heritage Room of the church, where memorial gifts may be given to either Operation New Knoxville Cares, Moulton Gun Club or the Auglaize County Cancer Association.
