Paul J. Ranly, 91, of 263 N. Hanover St., Minster, died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in St. Marys.
He was born on April 14, 1920, in Cassella, to Peter and Sophia (Speck) Ranly, and they preceded him in death.
On April 15, 1944, he married Erma Mary Obringer, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1980. On Jan. 7, 1984, he married Marie F. (Post) Koesters, and she survives in St. Henry.
He is also survived by his children, Daniel (Peggy) Ranly of Minster, Alice Ranly (Lloyd Duncan) of Greenfield, Ind., Dorothy Ranly Lesher of Englewood, Gerald (Nancy) Ranly of Minster, Marie Ranly Eakle of Kettering, James (Mary) Ranly of Minster, Dale (Jeanette) Ranly of Minster, Nicholas (Karen) Ranly of Minster, Marvin (Carol) Ranly of Minster, Gene Ranly of Lebanon and Kevin (Debora) Ranly of Fort Loramie; 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; his stepdaughters, Jean (Elmer) Mueller of Yorkshire, Joan (Gerald) (Hap) Brunswick of Anna, Charlene (Lou) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, Kathy (Roger) Broerman of Fort Recovery, Becky (David) Rammel of Fort Recovery, Judy (Jack) Gaerke of Fort Recovery, Mary (Matt) Cahill of St. Henry; his stepsons, Jim (Pat) Koesters of Springboro, Bill (Kathy) Koesters of Carthagena, Michael (Jane) Koesters of London, Nick (Darlene) Koesters of St. Henry, Steven (Joyce) Koesters of St. Henry and Frank (Diana) Koesters of St. Henry; 46 stepgrandchildren; 97 great-stepgrandchildren; three great-great-stepgrandchildren; four siblings; a sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lester; a son-in-law; a stepgrandchild; a great-stepgrandchild; nine siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Full military honors will be held at the cemetery by the Minster Firing Squad.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
